Information:

An often hazardous beach, it was once labeled unsafe for bathing by a government committee in the early part of the 20th century. Regardless, due to it's popularity, members from Cronulla SLSC formed this club on 'the big beach' to watch over swimmers in the often large surf and strong rip currents.

The permanent southern rip known as 'The Alley' is a danger to swimmers and recent erosion has exposed some rocks including foundations of the old sea wall that runs along the beach up towards Elouera. North Cronulla, while the most popular Sutherland Shire beach, is generally the most hazardous so swimming between the flags is recommended.
